cas is an awesome, morally gray/borderline dark character, but i too was surprised by how stab happy he was at the end of season 8, especially considering in season 7 he was a pacifist. but then cas had to fight constantly in purgatory, and then he was "brainwashed" and had to kill a 1000 dean's. maybe the combined trauma/ reeducation contributed to his volatility? ugh i don't want to be a cas apologist, bc that's a disservice to his character. so yeah, i'm awaiting your meta

it was interesting, right? i’m not sure i’d say i was surprised per se, bc i do think it was in keeping with his character, but it was definitely also  beyond the reach of his usual kill-first-question-later approach.

why the hell are you for spn having more het sex scenes when this show is so grossly heterosexist enough as it is some queer fan you are smh

…are you going to revoke my queer card?

also i didn’t specify it should be a het sex scene, i said ‘someone other than dean’

yes the show is heterosexist and i can understand if some queer fans are uncomfortable with the idea of even more het relationships being introduced, but that’s not what i’m getting at here. the fact is that every time the topic of castiel being with someone other than dean even comes up, fandom at large invariably reacts with fetishisation of virginity and slut-shaming (“he won’t be ~pure if he has sex with other people!”/”i don’t want him to cheapen himself by sleeping with someone he doesn’t love!”), usually coupled with slurs and death threats aimed at the woman involved (hi there, meg, daphne). all of those things are really problematic, even moreso when the same people turn around and cheerlead the continued queerbaiting of dean/cas despite how patently obvious it is that the show has no intention of ever actually going there in canon due to aforementioned heterosexism.

as for why i want more sex scenes on the show in general - i’m aromantic and i unashamedly love sex (shocking, i know), and the number of sources texts that portray sexual relationships in a positive light without conflating it with romance are in short supply. i just want my favourite characters to have a good time whatever form it comes in, provided it’s all safe and consensual and no-one gets stuffed into any fridges.

and yes as a lesbian i want to see more queer representation on the show - but as a woman and a feminist i want to see the female characters not get shat on by the fandom and the narrative. sometimes it’s a tricky thing to balance, i admit, but playing into the baiting of d/c and attacking every other relationship either of them forms is not the answer.

i don’t expect you to agree with me, but that’s my stance on the matter, and if that makes me somehow an ~improper queer fan in your eyes, then so be it, i guess.
